Children's Literature

If You Give a Pig a Pancake is a fun book to read to children. In this book, a little girl gives a pig a pancake and that event leads to other events until the pig gets hungry again and wants another pancake. Children just can't wait to see what that silly pig will want next. This book could be used to work on Cause and Effect and the Letter P. Other books by the same author include: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, and a new book If You Give a Pig a Party.

Temple Grandin

After listening to Temple Grandin's essay "This I Believe" on NPR, I was amazed to hear about her story living with autism.  I really enjoyed hearing how she understands and relates to the world in pictures.  It was even more amazing to hear that if given the chance to not have autism she would decline because she wouldn't want to give up the way she sees the world in pictures.

I was really impressed by how she took her disorder and made a difference in the world with her job working in slaughter houses.
